National Pet Foster Day 2015 - bringing foster to the people
More than 100 rescue groups and their local PETstock stores participated in the first ever National Pet Foster Day last month to help more communities realise the lifesaving powers of fostering. The results were pretty pawsome.
Competing with some seriously beautiful spring weather wasn’t easy, but there was a great turnout and many lives saved on the day.
A huge thanks to all the rescue groups that took part in the first National Pet Foster Day and to our partner PETstock. We hope it’s the first of many to come!
“We all had a great day - our foster carers and our animals. We adopted out three puppies, one adult dog and three kittens on the day!”
Woof Dog Rescue (PETstock Rouse Hill NSW)
“It was a great day and we were very happy. We had three adoptions, one foster view to adopt (staff member) and at least five new carers do paperwork on the day. Lots of networking and forms given out. Very successful overall, and we would love to participate again. The staff were so helpful and genuinely cared about our animals and that we had a successful day. Two are even carers now!”
Perth Rescue Angels (PETstock Midland WA)
“The National Pet Foster Day was a huge success. A total of eight adoptions, all from that one day. We managed to sign up two new foster carers and met several other families who had no idea that fostering was even an option. It was wonderful to be able to inform people about what we do. We would be honoured to do it again next year.”
Top End Rehoming (PETstock Berrimah NT)
“We found the day enjoyable and beneficial. We handed out in excess of 15 info packs for foster carers and have two families who have been back in contact with us about fostering. We also took our available cats along and had four adoptions on the day, which was fantastic as they were all teenagers/young adults. All in all, a great day.”
Tiny Tails Rescue (PETstock Noarlunga SA)
“It was a great day. The staff were friendly and more than accommodating. For us, it was not just about fostering and adopting, but getting our name around as we are a small charity that wants to grow and be known to the wider community. It was a very positive day, lots of fun and exposure to the area.”
