Nalah and Bryannon help each other grow
We’ve seen so many stories where a rescue pet has emotionally and mentally healed their adopter. However, Bryannon and her rescue pet, Nalah, are a pair that came through for each other in the most special way possible!
Bryannon and her partner Chris hadn’t made the decision to adopt a rescue pet until they came across Nalah on Shoalhaven Animal Shelter’s profile on PetRescue. “I was drawn to those big ears,” said Bryannon.
Their first meeting, Bryannon says, was love at first sight, “I remember seeing her face and instantly falling in love. She became quite cuddly after a few moments and I was extremely excited at the thought of bringing her home.”
And in no time, Nalah was adopted and welcomed into Bryannon’s big happy family and has also helped Bryannon with her anxiety.
“I have always struggled with really bad anxiety and Nalah truly lifts my spirits. Even by just looking at a photo of her, she makes me feel at ease. I am beyond happy to have her in my life, in fact, I actually couldn't imagine it without her now.”
Nalah was initially quite nervous when Bryannon first brought her home and gained more courage by keeping close to the family’s other dog, Zina.
It is not uncommon for a rescue pet to take their time to open up in a new home. However, the miracle of love and support is what triumphs in the end when amazing adopters like Bryannon and Chris hold their fort.
With a little patience from her new family, Nalah gradually opened up to Bryannon and Chris, and is now the center of their little universe.
“At first she was a very shy and timid girl and was not too sure of herself whereas now she is a very playful puppy and is definitely not afraid to cause a little mischief. She has numerous funny little traits that I adore, one being a game of chase the tail.”
This story is a testimony to how humans and rescue pets come together to help each other heal and grow. With a little bit of patience, Bryannon helped her rescue pet Nalah ease into her new life, and Nalah returned the favour by lifting Bryannon’s spirits through tough times.
