Happy dogs in WA indigenous communities receive a year’s supply of food!
Thanks to the amazing folks at Pilbara Meta Maya Regional Aboriginal Corporation (PMMRAC) and PetRescue partner MARS Petcare, community dogs in three indigenous communities in WA received a whopping $9,800 worth of food donations, totalling 3,056kg.
The team at PMMRAC is passionate about improving environmental health issues in the regions and the impact they have on residents’ health and well-being. You can learn more about their important work that's making a massive difference in the lives of the Aboriginal Community here.
Edith Hill, who is a shopkeeper and community feeder in Punmu, said about the donations;
‘’PMMRAC has provided us two dog feeders which I have been using. They have also managed to sterilise 27 animals on their last visit and vaccinated dogs for parvovirus.
Most importantly, I have been working with community members so that they let me know when they are leaving community so that I can go and feed and water their dogs every day. I have also installed automatic drinkers which were provided by PMMRAC.
The donation you have worked so hard for will last Punmu a whole year and help keep the dogs and it's members happier and healthier. I am so very grateful.’’
A massive thank you once again goes to the wonderful RGR Road Haulage, who generously delivered the food from Perth to Newman. The precious cargo was then distributed to the Parnngurr, Punmu, and Kunawarritji communities.
