About Spots
If you're looking for a well mannered dog with personality to spare, look no further than Spots! Our charming gentleman is blessed with a clever mind and an eager-to-please disposition. Despite a tough start to life, Spots has shown resilience and strength, transforming into an affectionate and happy dog ready to share his joy with others.
Spots quickly picked up basic commands, proving he's not just another pretty face. He is toilet trained, walks well on lead, is not destructive when left alone and is generally a quiet and well mannered dog. He has an affectionate and gentle temperament that makes him utterly lovable. From giving you companionship around the house to lifting your spirits with his playful antics, Spots brings a warm energy to everyday life.
Spots is a firm believer in quality time, whether that involves playing with his favorite toys or perfecting his training commands. Guiding him through some basic obedience training has been a breeze, and he will benefit from a home where this training can continue.
Spots has successfully made friends with multiple dogs in foster care and he plays very well. We've uploaded a video of Spots with Joey, a young enthusiastic puppy whom he is currently sharing a home with. Spots is gentle with him. He is also living with an older kelpie who gets grumpy and snappy but Spots is respectful of her boundaries. We feel Spots would happily live with another (preferably female) dog as he enjoys the company and loves to play.
However, it is worth noting that Spots has previously had some difficulties meeting other dogs as he showed some reactivity if strange dogs got in his space without proper introduction. We have started Spots on medication to help him overcome any anxiety based reactivity but Spots needs a family who will keep him out of challenging situations where he is at risk and help him have positive interactions. This means NO dog parks, instead taking on-lead walks away from highly frequented dog areas and having well managed introductions with other dogs on a need-to-meet basis only.
With dog-savvy interactions and a safe home to call his own, Spots is sure to enjoy a peaceful, loving life.
If you are looking for a loyal companion who is clever and polite, and grateful to have a spot on the couch or at the foot of your bed, Spots might just be your perfect match!
Medical notes
Spots is a gentle, affectionate and well behaved dog who just needs extra support around his interactions with other dogs.
He has been seen by a veterinary behavioural specialist and their report and recommendations will be provided and ongoing support offered to his new foster or forever family.
