Are you ready to provide a patient and understanding home for a special little pooch? Meet Zeus, the adorable brown teacup poodle who is searching for a forever family that can help him overcome his anxiety. Despite his challenges, Zeus has so much love to give and is eager to find the perfect home.
Zeus is a beautiful, intelligent and incredibly active little boy. He loves his humans and thrives on routine.
But he has had a traumatic past and has a few quirks including high anxiety that means his future owners need to be patient and kind when he gets scared and reacts with fear. Some of the triggers he has include fast movements, opaque objects like cardboard, loud noises like yelling or strangers in the house. He can become anxious and, at times, exhibit nipping behaviour when he feels overwhelmed or threatened. Additionally, he tends to bark at other dogs and people while out on walks due to his fear and nervousness. His carers have advised that this is reduced when he is on a short leash and he is calm in his surroundings.
When he is triggered he can calm himself down if he can go to his safe space (pen/bed/kennel) and avoid the situation, but sometimes he gets overwhelmed in which case he needs to be moved to his safe space and remain there until he can shake it off.
On the other hand, his intelligence means he is highly trainable especially if you use a combination of hand signals and vocal commands.
Zeus is highly affectionate and will come to you for attention, and to play. He loves tug-of-war and chase. He will want to sit/sleep close to you (such as in the bedroom) or on the floor in front of you. If you can sit on the ground he will come up to you to rub his head on your legs and ask for pats. He is comfortable being groomed and is completely house trained.
Despite his challenges, Zeus has so much love to give and is eager to find the perfect match. The perfect forever home for Zeus would be:
No children
Active with lots of opportunities for Zeus to run/walk.
Open to teaching him agility or other activities to keep his mind active.
Based on a routine so he knows what to expect each day.
He may be small in size, but he has a big heart and a lively personality. Your love and patience will make a world of difference in his life. Let's give Zeus the second chance he deserves!

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
