About Rusty and Gemma Maddison
TO APPLY FOR ADOPTION PLEASE SEND IN APPLICATION FORM AVAILABLE BELOW:
https://www.victoriandogrescue.org.au/about-vicdrg/adoption-and-foster-application-forms.html/
Beautifully bonded pair Rusty and Gemma appear to have only recently experienced the life of soft beds, keeping cosy inside and treat time. Their laid back personalities have helped them to adjust well to indoor home life with their foster family but understandably given they have spent their first 16 years of their lives outside their house training does need patience and attention.
Rusty is everyone’s friend, he loves to greet humans and dogs like he’s been pals with them for years. He’s an easy going and affectionate lad who’s up for treats anytime and a walk at a good pace. Just as any gentleman should though, he is also happy to go for a stroll at a slower pace which is more suited to his lady companion Gemma.
Gemma is a stoic little lady. Despite her sight and hearing not being as finely tuned as it once was she’s very independent and not fussed by humans and animals. An easy to please lass who simply wants to wander around a safe and secure environment looking for the next place to enjoy an afternoon snooze.
Good travelers, dog friendly and learning quickly to be respectful of kitty friends (looking at you Rusty), it’s clear that when this sweet couple are together everything in the world is right. Gemma loves looking to Rusty for reassurance and has learnt that walkies together are her new favourite past time. Rusty likes to share food with Gemma so some dinner supervision is recommend to ensure this little lady gets her fair share.
This sweet bonded pair are looking for a quiet and warm place to rest their heads for their final years with some patient and loving humans who will continue to nurture their new life in the warmth of a caring home. There’s no doubt that time, patience and treats will see these two old dogs learn some new house training tricks as they become more familiar with their surroundings.
If you feel that Rusty and Gemma might be the loving duo you need in your life please contact us or fill out the adoption form.
Please note: our dogs are not available for interstate adoption. We also do not adopt to people under the age of 25 years.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
If you are still interested, please download an application form from our website:

The application form must be emailed to us:

Please note that we do not take/make telephone calls prior to receiving an application.
Commonly asked questions and their answers are provided when you email us. Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. Priority will also be given to typed applications which are easier for us to read and to copy relevant parts.
We look forward to receiving your application.
