About Bill
Bill and Ben (The Flowerpot Dogs) are a bonded pair of brothers looking for their forever home.
During their time in foster care, Bill & Ben’s confidence has grown, and their fearful and timid nature has decreased but they still have a way to go. They haven’t jumped the hurdle to trust humans and will not seek out human contact. The Boys do show signs of wanting to trust and interact with us which has been great to see develop over time.
The Boys have spent their entire lives outside. They show very little interest in life indoors and are very content to be outside. As long as they have a sheltered area or a big kennel for storms, they are happy and comfortable.
At present Bill & Ben are most comfortable being slightly nocturnal and take great delight in playing with one another, their toys and finding treats in their sandpit. Over time, they have become more active during the day but would happily sleep the day away given the chance, especially when it’s a sunny day.
The Boys have started communicating with us; a short bark for food reminders, a small huff if we haven’t given them something to play with, and a small set of barks to tell us that they would like us to investigate something in the garden.
They are currently untested with cats and pocket pets but they are happy to share their space with the local wildlife. We are in the process of adding another foster dog, to see if they would prefer a life with or without other doggy sibling(s).
The Boys have shown no aggression whatsoever, even when frightened, and would rather hide than be confrontational.
Their ideal home will need to have secure fencing, a sheltered spot to keep them feeling safe in bad weather, and a nice spot to sunbake.
The Boys are both still very timid, so a calm, quiet home would see them thrive. At this stage they are not suitable for a young family or a very busy household.
They need a someone who is willing to give them time and patience to help build their confidence and trust in humans.
This will be an ongoing journey for Bill & Ben, and they need someone who is committed to being beside them the whole way.
A meet and greet will be required to ensure the dogs are a good match before adoption is considered. The Boys will need to build trust with you, and we believe it is best to do this where they feel safe and comfortable. So that their transition to their new life is less stressful for everyone involved.
