About Roxie
Roxie is a lively happy girl who loves to play with other young dogs. She is smart and has a bright cheeky nature. Roxie came from the pound with skin lesions on her ears and her head and she always hid under blankets, perhaps from pain associated with her ears.
Results showed she has an autoimmune disease. After some months on steroids she has improved and she is no longer on medication. She has blossomed into a lively little girl who loves playing with young small dogs and no longer hides. She is obedient to basic commands and is easy to handle and cuddle. Being a teenager, she is still in the chewy stage of her life. Roxie is very anxious and needs a family who understand she needs time to meet new people and become comfortable. She barks at strangers. She has a short coat and weighs 3.2kg.
Apartment Friendly: Could cope in an apartment environment. Regular walks or use of an artificial grass patch is suggested.
Suit Home Based Worker: Unable to cope alone and has shown signs of separation anxiety. Needs human company.
NEEDS RESCUE EXPERIENCE: Many people grow up with, or own a dog who has had no bad experiences in life. A dog who is confident and well rounded. However, many rescue dogs have not been as lucky in their lives.
Unfortunately, some rescue dogs have been physically abused, neglected and left traumatised. These dogs need someone with previous rescue experience in rehabilitating traumatised dogs with an in depth understanding of and experience in building relationships with these kinds of dogs.
Adoption details
DoggieRescue is a charitable organisation and as such we rely very much on volunteers to manage our adoptions. We answer initial adoption enquiries by email or phone and then arrange an appointment for you to meet some of our rescue dogs.
At DoggieRescue we believe our dogs deserve to find that special someone who will love them and look after them forever. We know that there are homes out there that are willing to accommodate one more little member of the family and dedicate time to their well being.
