About Rafiki
*In foster care in Homebush West, Sydney*
Rafiki may look like a huge, majestic beast, but underneath he's just a big baby! Like most babies he can get overwhelmed and act out, but he absolutely adores human company and is a super-snuggler too - especially once you've earned his trust :)
This lovely boy likes to call out to you, rub against your legs and maybe even hop in your lap for some head scratches if you get to be really good friends! When he's in the mood for pats he'll push his nose softly into your hand. Some of Rafiki's favourite pastimes include smelling and chewing grass, and batting plastic zip ties around!
Because he has some anxiety, Rafiki does misbehave on occasion and doesn't always know when rough play gets too rough. He's slowly (but surely!) learning to relax, and is even doing some clicker/target training to help him and his foster humans understand each other better.
Rafiki hasn't had the most stable of lives so far and he keeps having to get used to new people, which has been hard for him. He's on the search for a patient and kind forever family who'll commit to helping him be the best cat he can be. He truly does have so much love to give in return!

Like all Maggie's pets, Rafiki is microchipped, desexed and vaccinated.

MY IDEAL HOME: Because I'm a sensitive boy, a quiet home with calm, easygoing humans would help me feel safe, comfortable and secure. I like attention on my own terms, but I also love just having someone around to meow at :)
MY ENERGY LEVEL: I enjoy the occasional frisky play session, and having access to toys, but I'm mostly a couch potato who's content to hunker down and watch the world outside! I'm particularly fascinated by birds.
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: I'm big and boisterous, but also a bit timid and easily scared, so a home without kids would suit me best.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: I'm all the furry friend you'll ever need!
Medical notes
Rafiki is currently on medication for anxiety, this is compounded and put into his food which he eats without issues. This medication is just so Rafiki can practice good cat skills and not let his big emotions get the best of him.

Adoption details
We ask all people looking to adopt to fill in our adoption enquiry form at https://form.jotform.co/92940837256870. Please use these links rather than the 'Enquire' button on the pet's PetRescue profile to streamline your enquiry.
Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
Please consider, that a Maggie's Pet is a pet for Life, before adopting.
