About Buddy- Dingo Kelpie Mix
Buddy was found beside the road at just 4 weeks old. He was curled up with his dead brother who had been hit by a car. Buddy had a broken leg and was almost entirely blind as a result of sustained malnutrition. His leg was surgically repaired and pinned and in time as he gained weight and recovered, his eyesight began to return and now almost 100% normal. He runs, jumps and climbs and his leg doesn't impair him at all.
Because Buddy is a wild born dingo, he is generally cautious of new people at first but curious, sweet and affectionate once he gets to know you. He can take a few days to warm up to strangers, but he is very sweet and gentle and having been hand-raised since he was 4 weeks old he adores people. He hasn't spent much time around kids and given his timid nature a quiet home with kids over 12 or not kids would be best.
Buddy is good with other dogs with slow introductions and loves to play. He is good with both male and female dogs and would love a home with a doggy playmate (10kg or more).
Buddy's house trained and uses puppy pads, but could easily be taught to use a dog door to go outside to toilet.
Buddy walks well on lead and is getting used to riding in the car. He is not suitable to be let off lead and should be walked on leash when outside the yard- dingoes do not typically have good recall.
Buddy is not suitable to live with cats, birds, livestock or small animals. He can not live in an apartment and needs a backyard.
Buddy is a dingo kelpie mix. He will be 20kg-22kg fully grown and requires secure 1.8m fencing and may require dig proofing i.e. sleepers or pavers at the base of the fence.
Adoption details
Please note at this time pending legal advice we are unable to offer fox kit adoption to private owners.
Dingo Adoption:
1. Send an email inquiry with your name and contact details outlining your current living situation, pets and family members and anything else you think might be relevant, particularly what your house and yard are like. Remember our dingoes typically require an enclosure or modified fencing.
2. We will email you back adoption information and an application form to fill out and return to us.
3. If your application is approved- Come along to meet us and our dingoes at our Goulburn shelter or their foster carers' home and let us find the right furry family member for you. We can also come to you. We are happy to meet new prospective owners anywhere in NSW or the ACT.
4. Before you can pick up your new dingo you will also need to under a house/yard check and pay your adoption fee. No animals are rehomed unless their adoption fee is paid in full and a yard check has been completed.
