About Conan- Dingo Mix
Hi my name is Conan and something tells me we're going to be best mates! I LOVE people. People have told me I'm too big to be a lap dog... those people are wrong. No lap? No problem, if you're standing up I'll lean my big head against you, just so you know how much I like you, or if you're lucky you might even get a big slobbery kiss. I'm not pushy though, and I'll listen when you ask me not to jump up, I just really love people, pats and belly rubs!
I'm a quiet boy, like most dingoes I don't bark. I'm great in the car and walk well on the lead.
All I want in life is a human friend to cuddle with and someone who loves to run like me (maybe a dog friend?)! I would make an excellent jogging partner or maybe if you're a tradie I could come with you on the job and hang out! I like to keep active and busy, after all I'm a big puppy at just 1 year old.
Kongs are my favorite along with other toys like tennis balls and Frisbee. I even know how to fetch, sit, shake and lay down!
I like some other dogs, but slow introductions are a must and I'm not the type of dog that can be taken to a dog park, why don't we go bushwalking or to the beach instead?
I am a big and boisterous boy so I'd prefer not to live with small dogs (under 10kg) or small kids (under 8yo), but teenagers are great!
I have some experience with house training/toilet training from my first home, and I never do my business in the car, but I might need a bit of a refresher when I first come home with you since my enclosure at the shelter is outdoors.
Are you my forever home? You'll need 1.8m secure fencing or a dog enclosure and a pet friendly lease, but that seems like a small ask for all the love and loyalty I have to give.
Note: dingoes are not suitable to live with cats, birds, livestock or other small animals/pocket pets unless kept entirely separate.
Animal rescue is considered essential. SFDR can still come to you for meet and greets, yard checks and animal adoptions. We have volunteers in Canberra and New South Wales and can come to you even if you we are not in your local government area. Distance is not an issue when we are looking for the perfect homes for our dingoes. Please note we have COVID safety measures in place.
Adoption details
Please note at this time pending legal advice we are unable to offer fox kit adoption to private owners.
Dingo Adoption:
1. Fill out an adoption form and send it back to us with an email outlining anything else you think might be relevant, particularly what your house and yard are like. Remember our dingoes require an enclosure or modified fencing.
3. If your application is approved- Come along to meet us and our dingoes at our Gouburn shelter or their foster carers home and let us find the right furry family member for you. We can also come to you. We drive dingoes all over NSW and the ACT to meet families interested in adoption.
3. Before you can pick up your new dingo you will also need to under a house/yard check and pay your adoption fee. No animals are rehomed unless their adoption fee is paid in full and a yard check has been completed.
