About Sage - Located in Preston
Hi there, I'm Sage, the fabulous feline of the house, and I must say, I'm quite the character! I may have my moments of timidity, but don't be fooled – I warm up to people faster than you can say "catnip."
I like to think of myself as the life of the party (or should I say, "purr-ty") because I absolutely love being where the action is. If there's something happening in the house, you can bet I'll be right in the middle of it, ready to play, pounce, or just supervise with my regal presence.
Toys? Oh, you betcha! I have a whole collection of them, and I'm not afraid to use them to entertain myself (and, of course, the humans). I'll bat at them, chase them, and maybe even occasionally act like I've captured a fearsome prey. It's all in good fun, you see.
Now, when the sun decides to grace us with its presence and creates those irresistible sunspots, you'll find me there, lounging like a true sun goddess. I've got to keep this luxurious fur looking top-notch, after all.
But let's talk about cuddling – one of my specialties! I'm a pro at finding laps on the couch to curl up on. Just give me a comfy spot, and I'll turn on the charm, making you forget about everything else. And at night, well, I don't like to brag, but I've been known to sneak into people's beds for a cozy slumber party.
Speaking of my fur, have you seen it? It's long, beautiful, lush, and oh-so-soft. I like to keep it well-groomed, you know. It's all about that diva cat life!
Now, there's one thing you should know about me – I've had my fair share of skin issues in the past, but thanks to some top-notch flea control and diligent monitoring, I've made a full recovery. Still, I might need some vet attention if it flares up again in the future, but don't worry, I'm a tough cookie.
So, if you're looking for a sweet, silly, and slightly sassy addition to your home, look no further than yours truly, Sage. I'm here to bring a whole lot of love and a touch of comedic flair to your life. 😺💕

Medical notes
Sage suffers from a condition called Allergic Skin disease. Certain environmental things trigger her to become extremely itchy to the point she over grooms and causes infections.
The good news is that this condition can be managed, and Sage has long periods of being a normal cat. While we are still unsure of the exact things she is allergic to her flare ups seem to occur if she is on too many different foods, is not on regular flea control, goes outdoors or is in a multi-pet household which she finds very stressful.
When she has been the only cat in an indoor only household she has gone months without a flare-up.
Sage is currently on a hypo-allergenic diet and Bravecto (quick kill) flea control.
She also has a low grade heart murmer which is currently not affecting her, but that will need to be monitored with 6 monthly health checks.
WORLDWIDE CAT VACCINE SHORTAGE
There is currently a worldwide shortage of cat vaccines and supplies are unlikely to be replenished until early 2024. This is due to complicated supply problems post-COVID. Our vets have limited, and in some cases no supplies available, but are prioritising kittens and previously unvaccinated Cats wherever possible.
Kittens are at the highest risk as their level of protection is very low after the initial protection provided by the mother’s antibodies. While protection will wane a little over time, a delay up to three months is unlikely to result in a significant reduction in levels of protection. It is anticipated that clinics should have regular supplies early in the new year to bring your cat back up to date.
First Vaccination completed
We will try to provide at least 1 vaccination, depending on our supplies of vaccines available, however boosters may become overdue. In this case it is your responsibility to contact your vet as soon as supplies become available. We will not be re-imbursing any of this costs.
We require all cats and kittens to be indoors only and not allowed outside. This is especially important now as there is a risk of coming into contact with unknown cats who may not be vaccinated.
No Vaccination completed
Where we are unable to provide any vaccination during their time in care with us, please contact us on 0459779888 or via email to samantha@neko.org.au, and we will arrange for one vaccination to be done at one of our partnering clinics as soon as supplies are available. Boosters after this will be your responsibility.
Please note that should you choose to utilise your own clinic, we will not be re-imbursing any costs. This is your responsibility.
