About Hugo
Hugo is a nervous dog who is looking for a family with experience to handle him slowly and gently. He has experienced very rough handling and is sensitive to it. Hugo can be quite unpredictable with strangers and can lunge and snap. He is also very nervous of sudden movements, hats, sunglasses etc. He is nervous of motorbikes and he has prey drive but can be distracted with treats. He is a lovely happy dog when you move slowly and speak softly.
Walkers say “Hugo was a little anxious but didn’t react to any dogs. Very affectionate”, “Such a lovely dog! Loves rolling himself in the grass and enjoys belly rubs." He is smaller than a pure Rotty. He needs someone willing to meet him a number of times to build a relationship with him and build that trust. He needs a confident handler who keeps a good grip on his harness when he is out in public. He has a short coat and weighs 29.7kg
Suit Full Time Worker: Not overly needy and can entertain itself. DR recommends play time, dog toys etc.
Adult Home: Nervous or not tolerant of children. And/or too high a level of excitability for children to control.
Garden: Needs a home that has more space as well as a garden for exercise and regular walks outside.
NEEDS RESCUE EXPERIENCE:
These dogs need someone with previous rescue experience in rehabilitation, with an in depth understanding of and experience in building relationships with these kinds of dogs.
Medical notes
He comes desexed, C5 vaccinated, heartworm free and microchipped. Also included for the love and health of our dogs is a free Health and Wellness Voucher with our DR Vet
Adoption details
DoggieRescue is a charitable organisation and as such we rely very much on volunteers to manage our adoptions. We answer initial adoption enquiries by email or phone and then arrange an appointment for you to meet some of our rescue dogs.
At DoggieRescue we believe our dogs deserve to find that special someone who will love them and look after them forever. We know that there are homes out there that are willing to accommodate one more little member of the family and dedicate time to their well being.
