Meet Hubie, a big boy with a big heart & lots of love to give!
About: Hubie is a gentle giant. He exudes friendliness, playfulness, and an infectious happiness that is sure to uplift any home. Confident and adaptable, he is well-suited for both first-time owners and those with prior dog experience.
Ideal Home: Hubie would thrive in a townhouse, duplex, house, or on a farm with a medium to large yard and secure fencing.
Hubie's excitable nature make him best suited for a lively and busy home environment.
While he enjoys spending time outdoors, he also cherishes being around his family, so access to indoor living space is appreciated.
Family: Hubie is open to meet kids of any age, however, his large size and exuberance may mean that he might accidentally knock over small children in his enthusiasm, so supervision is recommended.
Hubie is also comfortable being left alone for long periods of time, making him a great fit for people with full-time jobs.
Furry Friends: Hubie's social nature extends beyond humans—he's eager to make friends with other dogs too! Although he may need some refinement in his manners and social skills, his playful nature and friendly disposition make him a great choice for both humans and canines alike.
As always, we recommend that when introducing your new & existing animals that it is does slowly & that each animals boundaries are respected.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Hubie would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the direction of his new owners.
Training & Development: Post-adoption training, including at-home obedience training and group classes, will help him further refine his skills and socialise with other dogs. With patience and consistency, Hubie will continue to blossom into a well-rounded guy.
While Hubie is still learning his name, he does know basic commands like ‘sit’ & ‘down’ - he's eager to please and willing to learn more.
He may not be overly interested in treats, but he'll accept them gently when tempted.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Regular walks and mental stimulation activities, such as treat puzzles or Kongs, will help keep Hubie happy and content & his mind active. Hubie walks beautifully on a lead too.
Hubie's favourite pastime includes playing with squeaky toys and enjoying the great outdoors.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
