Reggie - 7 Year Old Maltese X Shih Tzu

Let me introduce to you this little ball of love and cuddles. Reggie, a 7 year old Maltese X Shih Tzu.

If you are looking for a loved up cuddle bunny, then Reggie is your man. He has the softest fur, but as he came into care quite matted, he is now sporting a crew cut.

Reggie came to DRN from a loving home, who were no longer able to care for him. Since he has arrived, he has fitted in extremely well. He happily lives with his little foster dog buddies, all similar sizes and breeds, as well as cats. He loves everyone and is happy to be adored by anyone willing to share their lap, bed or dinner.

Reggie needed some dental work, resulting in him losing ten teeth. He also was desexed and had his vaccinations. None of this phased Reggie though and he has trotted along like nothing has happened.

Reggie is truly a sweet heart. However he has a few quirks that may need a bit of ongoing work with his new family - he is not keen to toilet outside and is not keen on stairs. Perhaps his unwillingness to toilet train in his foster home is that he needs to navigate stairs and he finds this a bit daunting. If he is taken outside and with lots of encouragement, he does eventually go. This is just a heads up to Reggie's new family that there may be accidents and some further training required.

Reggie is great in the car. However, he does seem a bit unsure on dog walks and will loop around frequently.

Reggie would suit a family with older kids or some one retired and home often. He needs to be with someone most of the time as he will cry and become quite upset.

He will also need to be an inside dog and be an active part of the family life. He cannot be left outside on his own as this would break his heart, even if in the company of other dogs.

Reggie is in foster care in Charlestown, NSW. Adoption fee is $500. He is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms and microchipped.
