Hi friends! My name is Swirl. At just SIX WEEKS OLD my siblings and I had less than 24hrs left in a pound before our scheduled euthanasia 😪 In a combined effort with three other rescues, all 12 puppies in my litter were saved in the nick of time! Happy smiles all round!
Since coming into care with my brother Cinnamon, I've been a dream to care for; my foster carer has worked hard on giving my a great start to life. I like to spend my days exploring the yard, napping and wrestling with my furry foster siblings and human siblings too. Between my brother and me, I'm the more playful and adventurous one. I have a zest for life and can't wait to explore the world by your side! Being the 'swirl' of the Cinnamon Swirl sibling duo, I am both equal parts sugar and spice. And just like a swirl of sugar turns dough from plain into a delicious treat, I can transform your life into something sweet 🥰
I'm quickly learning the ropes and have been exposed to many new things since being in care such as baths, car rides, and routine vet trips. My foster sibling (an adopted OTC dog himself) and humans are teaching me lots including basic training, manners and how to sleep through the night in the crate. I would love to get out for an adventure 3-4 times a week, to run sniff and roll and go on daily walks/runs with you!
I would like to be behind a 5ft fence or higher so that as I grow, I am not tempted to escape the yard. Being a young dog, I am going to grow up however you allow me to- so it's important to spend your early weeks with me getting my routine and training down-pat. I am a smart pup who is a keen learner and will make you very happy! I am used to living with other dogs but I am young and adaptable. If you want me to be a single dog, I will need an experienced owner who won't bail at the first hiccup we go through together; change is hard for us all, especially a growing pup learning a whole new life! I want an owner/family I can really bond with and trust, and in return I will give a life time of loyalty, fun and affection.

Before applying, please consider and finalise the following: real estate approval, fence repair if needed, outside shelter areas and look into the dog's breed dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed.

Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applications may meet the dogs. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the dog at your home or in a public place. If you have other animals they should please be at the meet.
If at the meet, you and the dog get along- you have the option of either taking the dog on the spot (in exchange for the full adoption fee paid upfront, and contract signed)- or placing the dog on hold for up to 2 days without any holding fee applicable. When adoption begins you will be provided with 7 days worth of food for the dog, as well as what brand and type of food it is, so that you may change their diet carefully and slowly, or purchase more, if needed.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold dogs for 3 days or longer, without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the dog, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters and so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit non refundable to avoid time-wasters, especially when it comes to puppies under 5 months of age. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the dog. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you pay a $100 holding fee so we can hold the dog for a week- the day you collect the dog you will sign and adoption contract, and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC immediately and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area so OTC can cover any treatment needed. At the completion of your adoption trial period, OTC will send you a copy of your signed contract and relevant vet documents.
