About Bonny
Bonny is one of the most frightened dogs I have met. For weeks she hid in a safe space and only came out when no humans were about. She came from the pound with lots of scabs and scratches perhaps from a dog attack. However, she does not show fear being around other small dogs. Slowly Bonny would be out when people were around, but she would dart back to her safe haven like mouse.
More recently she is out when the people she knows are around, but she watches them at a distance and makes sure she has an exit route organized. Bonny is a long-term rehabilitation girl who is looking for a very experienced rescuer living in a quite home with perhaps a small doggy friend to show her the ropes. She does not bite, and she does enjoy bum scratches and tickles behind her ears in her safe spot. It will be a long time before she will come to a person or go for a walk. She has a short coat and weighs 3.6kg.
Adult Home: Nervous or not tolerant of children. And/or too high a level of excitability for children to control.
Apartment Friendly: Could cope in an apartment environment. Regular walks or use of an artificial grass patch is suggested.
Suit Full Time Worker: Not overly needy and can entertain itself. DR recommends play time, dog toys etc.
NEEDS RESCUE EXPERIENCE: Many people grow up with, or own a dog who has had no bad experiences in life. A dog who is confident and well rounded. However, many rescue dogs have not been as lucky in their lives.
These dogs need someone with previous rescue experience and an in depth understanding of and experience in building relationships with these kinds of dogs.
Adoption details
DoggieRescue is a charitable organisation and as such we rely very much on volunteers to manage our adoptions. We answer initial adoption enquiries by email or phone and then arrange an appointment for you to meet some of our rescue dogs.
At DoggieRescue we believe our dogs deserve to find that special someone who will love them and look after them forever. We know that there are homes out there that are willing to accommodate one more little member of the family and dedicate time to their well being.
