About Bluey - 7 Month Old Cattle Dog
Hi, my name is Bluey and I am a 7 month old Australian Cattle Dog.
I haven’t had the best start to life, I've had three different owners in my short period of life and done a stint in the pound. I was in the pound for eight weeks before DRN saved me when I was out of time, not sure what that means but I’m thankful for them and my new foster family!
I'm currently in care with a family (with the youngest child being 17) and a 6.5 year old Cattle Dog. I am experiencing lots of new things like going for walks, chasing the ball, playing with toys and learning manners. During the day I spend my time outside lounging in the sun, playing fetch with my dog sibling and going for a big walk. At night I come inside and sit on my mat and watch TV with my foster family and then when I’m tired, I take myself to bed.
My toilet training is improving, I have not had any accidents inside yet, as my foster Dad makes sure I go to the toilet before I come inside and again about an hour after being inside.
I also like to garden, aka digging holes, pulling bark and leaves of trees and ripping them up into tiny pieces, so I can give you the job of putting it all in the bin. I am super helpful when my foster mum puts the washing on in the morning. I inspect the front loader, making sure there is a tablet in the machine which looks tasty, but I have been told not to eat it! I like to sniff the clothes as they go in the washing machine and am always tempted to nab a sock or two. Sometimes I follow through and steal one when mums not watching but she is really quick and grabs the sock before I can take off with it!
Oh, and I LOVE my food, My foster mum is a great cook I am not fussy at all. I live in household where there’s someone home most of the time which I’m use to and like, I would be happy with part time workers.
I like the creature comforts like extra bedding and blankets in my kennel and when I feel like sitting on the pavers, I pull out my blanket to lay on it. On hot days I enjoy playing in the seashell water pool with my ball, it is so much fun! Though I am not a fan of the hose. I need two bowls of water as I like to put my paws and splash the water everywhere!
I also enjoy playing with my dog sibling. She is pretty tolerant though I am an annoying pest and take her ball and get in her face. As I am a working breed, I am highly intelligent, I need structure and consistency to help me be the best dog that I can be. I need a family who will love and take care of me for the next 12 years, keep up with my training and daily exercise as I have loads of energy. You must have previous cattle dog experience and no children under the age of 12 year as I jump up when excited and give the occasional nip as most cattle dogs do!
Hope to meet you soon! Love. Bluey
