About Budgies, Budgies, Budgies!!
Budgie Paradise!
Strong Hearts Sanctuary has rescued over 300 adorable budgies from a challenging hoarding situation. These delightful birds are now seeking loving forever homes where they can spread their wings and flourish. Budgies are sociable birds and they thrive in the company of other budgies and love engaging with their human companions through cheerful chirps and playful antics. They are very intelligent and some budgies are able to learn to speak and they can also be trained to wear harnesses!
Our rescued budgies come in a stunning array of colors, from saturated blues and greens, to yellows, whites and everything in between! Let us know if you have colour or gender preferences, and we'll do our best to pair you with your perfect feathered friends!
What We Seek in Adopters:
We're looking for individuals or families who are passionate about providing a nurturing and enriching environment for these budgies. A commitment to providing appropriate housing, care, and companionship is essential.
Budgie experience is a plus but not mandatory – we're here to guide you every step of the way in welcoming these intelligent birds into your life. We aim to place these budgies in pairs or small groups to ensure their well-being and happiness in their new homes. A crucial aspect of their future lives involves a safe environment, free from nesting boxes to stop the cycle of repopulation. We're dedicated to finding homes that understand and respect this requirement, ensuring the safety and comfort of these lovely birds.
A life in a tiny cage is not what we envisage for these budgies and small, generic petshop cages are not appropriate spaces to keep them in. While we understand that bedtime and safe spaces are needed and sometimes more easily catered to by using some kind of cage, these spaces need to be enriching, interesting and by no means somewhere to keep birds for long periods of time.
We estimate the budgies ages to vary between 5 months and 4 years. They are parasite free and in general good health unless otherwise stated.
Adoption Fee:
The adoption fee for each budgie is $50, which goes towards supporting our rescue efforts and ensuring the continued care of the birds that remain with us, particularly the babies and disabled budgies.

Adoption details
Regardless of the breed of animal you are looking to adopt, our adoption process is the same.
The first step of the process involves submitting an adoption application form. The form helps us understand a little bit more about you and your household and is used to figure out whether animal is the right fit for your household and what you are looking for, and also if your household is the right fit for the animal.
After a review process, shortlisted applicants will be contacted by one of our volunteer adoption coordinators usually by phone call or message. This is an informal conversation to discuss any questions we may have about the application and re-confirm any information provided. It is usually at at this point that we will organise a Meet & Greet with you and the animal.
It is a Strong Heart’s adoption policy to arrange a Meet & Greet with the prospective family and the animal before finalising the adoption. The Meet & Greet will allow the opportunity to visit the animal and have a pat and a play with them. The foster carer will tell you a bit about the animal's personality and what they have been like for the time they’ve been in their care. It is a great opportunity to ask the carer about the animals food, sleeping and any other health requirements.
If the Meet & Greet goes well on the day, in most cases you will be able to take the animal home straight away after payment of the adoption fee. All necessary paperwork including vet work history and transfer of ownership information will be sent via email within a few days unless otherwise specified.
