About Dolly
Dolly’s requirements in her new home,
- Someone able to provide her with training
- Owners who are home more often than not
- Having access to chews, Licky mats, kongs etc when her humans leave her.
- Dolly insists on having an indoor-outdoor lifestyle, she has no interest being left outside while her family are inside.
- Continue to give her access to a crate as a safe haven and to help with her with her anxiety about being left.
- Regular visits outside to keep her toilet accident free.
- Patient understanding owners as she seems a little delayed and has had a rough start in life.
- Secure fencing.
Having another playful dog is a must, and that dog would need to be interested in boisterous play. She needs a best friend not just a companion dog. She does love her toys as well!!
Dolly will need ongoing training to figure out the world, how she fits in and how she should act as a polite dog. She has gained great manners around sitting for her food and be more patient after being starved for such a long time - but food will remain the most exciting thing for her. This will be both an ongoing challenge as stealing food has happened but this also means she will train easily with food.
Dolly will need an owner who will be home in a part time nature and is not suited to a home where her family is gone all day, every day. She has some separation anxiety to work through, this can present as barking when left alone. Using a variety of tools for her while you’re away will help - such as bones, treat balls and puzzles, lick mats etc. These can also be used inside to assist her to calm down when the boisterous play is getting out of hand - as she does love to play.
Dolly will need to be a mostly inside dog when her family is home. While she loves lazy sleeps on the veranda and in the sun - she is so loving and is super affection, denying her this only increase her anxiety. Her cuddles on the couch are one of her all-time favourite things in life, and given her rough start - she deserves all of this.
She is happy to sleep in her crate overnight and will let you know if she needs to go to the toilet. Although she may still need help and attention to her cues if she has been inside for a long period. She is after all still a puppy and quite delayed in many areas.

Medical notes
Dolly has a noticeable lump on her head, we are unsure what cause it but the vet said it feels like a calcification, and is nothing to concerned about.
Adoption details
Please note- we do not work on a first in best dressed basis, we assess all applications to choose the home that we believe will best match the animal.
If you believe one of our animals would be a good match for your home please send us a detailed email us with some information about the people and any other animals in your home as well as the type of lifestyle you can offer a new rescue pet. We are volunteerswho run the rescue around families, paid employment and other commitments so your patience is appreciated.
We do require any other dogs in your home meeting our foster animal before they head home with you. This enables us to assess their compatibility and helps prevent them being returned and creating more confusion/insecurities for the foster animal.
All our animals are available for a two week trial with full refund. They are also covered by a lifetime return policy. If you ever find yourself unable to care for or keep your pet please contact us and they will come back into our care, this is a condition of our Adoptions.
