About Meggs
Meggs requirements in his new home.
- Living in the country or suburbia, with acreage or a large yard.
- People home a lot and would like a mate to hang with.
- An inside/outside lifestyle and sleeping inside of a night.
- People willing and able to continue his training.
- To be taken on regular walks.
- A secure yard with good fencing.
- No resident cats.
- No young children due to Meg's being to loving and excited.
- Meggs would prefer less car rides around too many passing cars, they cause him to bark. Or the ability to train him not to bark, but improvement isn't guaranteed.
Meggs is a stunning Red Heeler with the softest coat. He is a typical cattle dog that is focused on his human, when he isn't following his human around he is happy tootling around on his own.
Meggs is a bit partial to male owners and would love a mate to fulfil his dream of being country bumpkin with, leaving behind him the rat race of the city, finding a little slice of land or big back garden to spend his days exploring and playing in. To make his dream even better he would love to be right beside his favourite human ( he will bond with a female as well) when they are home to make sure, he's not missing out on any extra pats or attention, right up until his ready for a nap when he finds a comfy couch or dog bed to rest on.
As is common with his breed he is a very quick learner and since being in his loving foster home he has learnt sit, stay, shake, down and the names of some of his toys. Meggs is finding walking the streets of the city a little overwhelming, all the trucks trams and bikes. When he is calm, he happy walks by your side smelling everything as he goes.
Meggs is loving around the house and when out on walks, he loves to say hi to all the people and dogs, he can get a bit excited and jumpy so continued training is needed. Meggs gets very overwhelmed and worked up in the car, there has been signs of small improvement but it’s unclear if it’s something that will continue to improve, He seems to travel a bit better when on country roads.
Meggs is his happiest when indoors and can show a bit of anxiety outside and may need a dog trainer to help alleviate his nervous. Meggs has become accustomed to sleeping inside overnight, and will sleep on a dog bed or even sneak onto the couch during the night, he is happily crated when his foster carer leaves for short periods of time. Anyone who has known the love and loyalty of a cattle dog will now that Meggs is a dear soul just looking for a kind understanding human to guide and love him.

Adoption details
Please note- we do not work on a first in best dressed basis, we assess all applications to choose the home that we believe will best match the animal.
If you believe one of our animals would be a good match for your home please send us a detailed email us with some information about the people and any other animals in your home as well as the type of lifestyle you can offer a new rescue pet. We are volunteerswho run the rescue around families, paid employment and other commitments so your patience is appreciated.
We do require any other dogs in your home meeting our foster animal before they head home with you. This enables us to assess their compatibility and helps prevent them being returned and creating more confusion/insecurities for the foster animal.
All our animals are available for a two week trial with full refund. They are also covered by a lifetime return policy. If you ever find yourself unable to care for or keep your pet please contact us and they will come back into our care, this is a condition of our Adoptions.
